Patriot Jet Team launches foundation

The sleepy town of Byron got an unusual wake-up call Sunday morning as a half-dozen fighter jets roared across the sky a few hundred feet up and in perfect formation. About a mile away at the Byron Airport, an excited crowd had gathered for a milestone they hope will also awaken an interest in youthful aviators. The occasion was the grand opening of a 20,000-square-foot facility for the Patriots Jet Team, the only privately owned, six-plane precision jet team in the world. Founded nine years ago, the team is … [Read more...]

What an Extension of the Mortgage Debt Relief Act Could Mean

According to a preliminary report released by LPS, 2,060,000 properties are in foreclosure inventory. As of the end of the 2011 fourth quarter, 11.1 million borrowers were reported to be underwater, according to CoreLogic. That’s a lot of potential debt to be forgiven, and through the Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007, homeowners get a break from paying taxes on their forgiven debt – whether it was forgiven through a short sale, foreclosure, or a modification. The act though, is set to expire at the end of this … [Read more...]
